He should immediately lose his job...
He took an oath to enforce the laws of the State. It’s not like a menu from the neighborhood Chinese eatery where you choose one from column A, one from B and one from C. Mr. High Sheriff needs to understand it’s package deal.
I don’t know how it is in Arizona, but here in Florida the sheriff is not a county official, but rather a state official. He or she answers to the governor, not the county commission.
In Florida it would be up to the governor to insist he enforce the laws of the state, all of them, or face removal from his position.
I say hooray for the State of Arizona! They have certainly taken a situation for which they could get no satisfaction and turned it into a national discussion. Good for them!

Yep. His job is to enforce the law, not interpret which ones are “good” or “stupid”. Don’t get me wrong, he can “just do a poor job” enforcing the laws he disagrees with, but once he publicly states such a position he has crossed a line.
The law has a provision that allows anyone to sue law enforcement if they dont enforce the law. You can not catch and release period!
Our Sheriffs are elected and have a good amount of power but the law was made to punish exactly this kind of behavior, in fact I would guess that they had this guy in mind when they wrote it.
Cant wait to see the first protest march in August in the 118 deg heat.

He’s not doing anything different from what the Feds already do...
I think I know a guy who's gonna have some serious challenges next election.
Either that or he lives in a “majority illegal” county.
