I love fried green tomatoes but I only eat them once or twice a week as our tomatoes are ripening. I typically eat very healthfully but I need my bacon fat fix every now and then to fortify my Southern blood.:)
The majority of the time I have to get my green tomatoes from the grocery store. It never fails that the cashier will ask me “what is this?”, followed by “you know they are not ripe”. Once or twice I have responded with “damn this color blindness”.
