Megyn's a (virtual) 1st Amendment absolutist, so her position was far from surprising. I suspect she'll be agreeing with the opinion of the SCOTUS libs in this case.

According to Megyn’s argument the payment of the court fees happens automatically, unless a losing party files some documents. Apparently the father was late with the filing, so the ruling against him was not discretionary.
Mandated reimbursements are common after appellate court cases so the court did what it often does. In this case, the party being awarded was more undesirable than usual making the decision more unpalletable but certainly not unusual.
