Maybe MLB should be forced to go back to the specifications for maple bats that were used back in the days of Babe Ruth and the other greats. Today's bats have been changed to give hitters more power instead of being more like the sturdy club of yesteryear. If you have ever noticed today's major league bat has more of a golf club profile (a really skinny long handle tapering dramatically to a large hitting area) than that of the older bat where the taper from the handle to the hitting area was more gentle.
