I predict months of handwringing, the pro-deathers loudly commandeering the media for their nihilistic propaganda, and the beatifying of this woman with significant medical disabilities.

That's what they ALWAYS do.

This article doesn’t make Mr. Mostert sound like a very pleasant human being.

What makes him “unpleasant”? Do you mean the fact that he opposes euthanasia?

He writes with a holier-than though, high-horse snarkiness that makes him sound every bit as annoying as the activists he condemns.

People in horrible condition with no chance to recover should be allowed to commit suicide if they wish. And yeah, with proper consent, witnesses, etc, I see no real problem with assisted suicide in many cases.

Really no different than a soldier wounded and about to be captured and tortured by Islamic radicals- if he/she feels they are going to die anyway and may as well go out on their own terms, I just don’t have any objections to it.

Why? Because he opposes euthanasia?

ANYONE has the right to commit suicide, but that doesn't make it right and it doesn't mean that the government should participate.

It's totally different. That is dying to protect others.

The government should not be in the business of killing innocent people. They damn sure shouldn’t be killing soldiers for getting captured.

Apparently there was a word....or combination of words that you simply didn’t understand?

Suicide is killing oneself. That’s the individual’s own decision.

Euthanasia is not suicide, it’s murder. There’s no such thing as *assisted suicide*, it’s legalized homicide.

What the deathbots want it to legalize certain forms of murder done by certain groups of people (so called medical “professionals”) to certain groups of people, those whose lives are not deemed to be worthy of living any more.

There are very effective ways of doing yourself in if you’re really determined to. You don’t have to have someone murder you because you lack the wherewithal to do it yourself.

The government should not be in the business of endorsing murder.

As soon as someone trots out the phrase “holier than thou”, it begs the question - what’s wrong with being “holy” or rather, standing up for morality?

Someone doesn’t feel “holy” and therefore feels guilty? And dislikes people who stand up for morality?

High horse snarkiness? Meaning he says he’s right, and those who want laws changed so they can legally kill people are wrong?

It’s one thing to commit suicide oneself.

People do it every day.

It’s entirely another thing to want doctors to be able to kill people. Call it “assisted suicide”, “euthanasia”, or “death with dignity” - it’s murder.

Here's a phrase I do understand:

Thou shalt not kill.

I didn’t seen any holier-than-thou attitude in his writing. Where are you getting that from?

Dignity is what a person brings to death, it has NOTHING to do with how they die and even less to do with how they “look” when they die.

Hitler had a party before he died, dressed in his finest uniform and chose the exact manner of his death. I’m sure he “looked dignified” before he died, but he didn’t have a shred of dignity.

Jesus Christ was stripped naked, beaten, mocked and nailed to His Cross. It’s very unlikely that He “looked dignified” to His executioners, yet He died with more dignity than anyone who will ever live.
