I wrote to Fyscat: Sometimes we need to get the perspective of a patriotic vet who's been there and knows the way things should work. There does seem to be a bias in the political arena to go after our own men, but I also know that our guys are human also. Although I wouldnt expect ex-marines to be libs, I know some, like infamous Murtha, are. As long as youre not a flaming liberal, Id like to see more of your thoughts on this case.

I feel for this guy, I really do. However, as he was part of the Army Officer Corp I would expect better leadership out of him. He made several poor choices along with the unit commanders, in which hes paying for now. It is war, but as soon as we drop our standards we have lost that war. Besides, in that inviroment there are better ways to get your revenge/justice than a Saddam style execution.
[The] guy was ordered to take the subject home, not to a ditch. They didnt say anything about conducting his own investigation, just take him home. The guy wanted his justice and now has it. There are rules to combat as there are rules for after the combat. He acted outside of those rules. Like I said, I feel for him, he let his emotion get the better of him.
Behenna appears to be responsible for initiating events that ultimately resulted in the need for him to have to defend himself, but to say he just executed this guy is making an unsubstantiated charge and that's why there's an appeal to his sentence.
