Once upon a time in America the intelligentsia, the news media, liberals, and rights activists were on the front-lines of securing for women an important place at the table in areas where they had been previously excluded.
Those were the days when any woman, anywhere, no matter what her background or political views, would be aggressively defended by organizations such as the National Organization for Women and other groups if they had been victimized by negative stereotypes, oppressive language and behavior, or any other indication that they had suffered at the hands of a 'paternalistic society.'
Those days are gone.
In today's society it is not enough to be female when it comes to the mainstream media. You must be a certain type of female with a certain political outlook and worldview.

And attack of liberal women in the conservative media is also fair game. So let’s not be holier than thou.
POLITICS TRUMPS EVERYTHING - gender, race, religion, national origin, etc. etc.
And what is politics? Nothing more than self-interest.
Some conservatives are responsible for attacks on liberal women. However, it is not the same. We are held to a higher standard of conduct. All kinds of women’s rights groups stand up a scream bloody murder when the right says something like that. When the left says it, you hear crickets or worse yet explainations.
Liberal women (Pelosi, Stabenow, Mikulski, Clinton) are terminally ugly and miserable.

The only reason you don’t hear from similar women’s group on the right is because there aren’t any, or if there are you won’t hear them in the left wing media (aka - main stream media). But you do hear plenty from Rush, Hannity, Coulter, Malkin, Ingraham, Beck, O’Reilly, etc, etc.
As I said, it’s always about POLITICS, (ie, self-interest), and you know what? That’s OK! Once you accept that simple reality, THAT POLITICS IS ABOUT YOUR SELF_INTEREST, you will then appreciate how important it is to get into the political game (to whatever extent you feel motivated - from blogging in FR to attending tea parties to running for office) in order to protect your self-interest.

The point is that those women’s groups should stand up for sexist attack on ANY woman regardless of her political views.

That’s impossible or verging on sainthood!! From your handle I would venture to guess that you’re a mom against abortions. If that’s true, have you ever stood up for some woman that might have been vilified, called baby-killer by pro-lifers for her staunch defense of abortion??
Your mistake is thinking that a group that calls themselves a “women’s group” is out to defend ALL women. That’s what they want you to think. In reality all they’re after is promoting a particular set of self-interests that they share (and they believe or want you to believe that all women share). Don’t get fooled by names - look at their agenda.
Yes you are not telling me anything I don’t know. I started the discussion saying that there is a double standard. The fact that NOW and other such organizations that say they are out to defend women, have nothing to say when a conservative woman is attacked.
We can disagree with someone politically while refraining from attacks that have nothing to with the disagreement.
BTW, I don’t propose to stand up for women’s “rights”. I judge a woman on her actions not her gender. If she has killed a baby then she is a baby killer.
