I used to love his radio show. I watched the TV show for awhile but just can’t anymore. I do wonder if he is drinking, its just getting to creepy for me.

Beck is just one of the many Pied Pipers of the MSM.

One must fully understand the reasoning why people believe they must have leadership.

How would history have changed if the mice wore earplugs and started laughing at the buffoon playing his song?

Having watched a few of Glen Beck’s dramatic presentations on the deficit, the Constitution etc., he inspired me to do some research and make comparisons. He is a rabble rouser and a muck raker in the best Jack Anderson tradition - with a bit more schmaltz.

Tonight as I watched, I had an Elmer Gantry moment when Beck lumped in the *birthers* with the *truthers* followed by a *Face in the Crowd* moment.

I changed channels. Glen is doing some good work - and getting paid for it. There are many thousands of other good people of conscience doing great work, and doing their duty for free..... and freedom.

I couldn’t disagree more. Unlike a lot of them who just point out what’s wrong and right, he’s one of the few that actually calls people to action. Also, he’s the most independent out there; he’s by far not a GOP or DNC kool-aid drinker. Further, he was called nuts years ago when he was forecasting the economic mess we are in today, yet he was right on the money (no pun intended).

"He does not do that, instead, he nurtures inaction."

Sorry. but that's bullsh!t.

No one - no single person - on television or radio or the Internet has done more to encourage people to get off their couches and come to the aid of their country during the past year than Glenn Beck.

That's right: for all his over-the-top emotionalism, the man has done a profound public service. No one else has created such popular momentum: not Rush (who I love); not Sean Hannity (who likes the sound of his own voice too much to really listen to his guests).

No one has been more instrumental in getting Americans involved in taking back their country from the Progressive hoard. Glenn Beck created the 9/12 Project. He is a one-man catalyst for action. Millions of Americans would not even know what "Progressivsim" is, much less the threat it presents were it not for Glenn Beck.

If it were not for Glenn, would you even know who Van Jones is? Or Anita Dunn? Or Cass Sunstein? Or why their proximity to the White House mattered so profoundly? Please: give the man the credit he is due. Have you attended any Tea Parties? I have. I saw a great number of signs with a variety of messages. One of the most common among them was: "Thank You, Glenn Beck".

When you start by saying you don’t like Glenn or his policies, everything after that is void. I see everything just about 180 degrees differently than you do. Evidently thousands upon thousands do too. So don’t watch him. I think he’s about the best thing going on TV right now.

Beck adds up 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 = 0...
Zero does add up.. He sometimes divides by 0 too..

Its tough job but somebodys got to do it..
Without Beck; President Zero would add to any number of cyphers..
Do you yourself add like Chris Matthews?
RINOs on this website are TARGETS.. Targets are useful..

Beck should lead like a parent....

Stopped reading right f’ing there.

NO! It is NOT anyone’s job in the media or government to “lead like a parent”!

Get this through your thick f’ing skull! This is what got Clinton elected, the damn pony tailed guy in Richmond, Virginia that stood up and said, “Think of us as your children...”

That’s music to the ears of anyone that wants power, dictatorial control and to lead without mandate. We are NOT following Glenn Beck! We are NOT being led around by the nose! We are NOT parroting talking points!

Glenn Beck is everyman who’s fed up with everything he sees. He’s a representative of outrage, not the cause of it. He is not a leader, he doesn’t want to be a leader and he has shunned taking credit for mass voter discontent.

You can turn the channel, you can listen to other commentators, you can become apolitical. However the second you’ve told someone to “lead like a parent” or to “think of us as your children” you’ve surrendered yourself to their will, not yours.

Just how new are you to this life, liberty and pursuit of happiness thing???

Personally, I watch Glenn Beck every day (TVO'd). I don't see him so much as a leader as I do a teacher. I have read more about the Constitution and the Founding Fathers in the past year than in the previous ten ...primarily motivated by watching Beck.

I sometimes wish he were more "uplifting," but I'm reminded that the watchman on the wall actually has a pretty thankless job, which I think is his emerging role.

Then don’t watch, or discuss him at all.

That is all you can do in the marketplace of ideas and entertainment performances.

Mostly ad hominem and blah—blah-—blah!

Beck is doing a pretty good job of portraying “everyman” and he makes one think and research. Yes, this is entertainment, but he has had some very scholarly and thoughtful guests, etc. He brings up many good points. I enjoy his show most of the time and can independently discern what is good and not so good....as I do with anything I see or read or hear anywhere. I suggest you do the same.

Beck is a voice crying in the wilderness. He has almost singlehandedly exposed czars like Van Jones and the ACORN fraud videos, along with other radicals in the present administration, that have people thirsting for answers. There have been security incidents for him and his family.

He’s not always right. He doesn’t say he is. I contend he’s missed the boat entirely on the present office holder’s legitimate, Constitutional claim to the Presidency.

Beck is asking questions and raising issues like few others. I think O’Reilly is trying to shield him, but it is clear that the flak he takes is because he’s dead on the money. Now, he has very powerful friends...along with powerful enemies who would gladly do him in by whatever method that takes.

The stories he covers ask questions and encourage people to read the actual, founding documents of the United States. This task is crucial, as many, many have never been taught American ideals and precepts of government. Now that we know AGW is bunk science, the thought of bunk education and peer review at the highest and most intellectual levels is obvious; this is the 60s radicals last, best chance to destroy the country. The seepage of Marxist, anti-American drivel is in children’s textbooks and university research alike, in pure, hard science as well as in soft science, side-by-side.

The Depression-era folks now dying off, we have no one to tell the stories that so many never learned. Last year, children’s books put out prior to 1985 were declared illegal ‘for safety reasons.’ The WH called historians to a ‘dinner’ and discussion early on in 2009; our history is and has been rewritten. There is no one to lead because there is previous little light on the dark places Potomac water seeps into now. So, we have to comb through documents and references previously ridiculed or excoriated to find the pearls.

Beck’s best recent thought, IMHO, is that it will be up to American citizens to right the ship of state or rebuild it as the USS America if it sinks; we are all apprentice shipbuilders now.

I support him, not because he is right on everything, but because one candle cannot burn forever, but millions of candles outshine whatever darkness comes our way in these dangerous, shadowy times. It may well be that these lights will save America all over again, and conquer the land our pioneer forebears fought and died to establish. We are the last, best hope on earth. There is no where else to run. We must lead ourselves according to the lights and rights of the Republic.

This is what happened when people think that talk-show hosts are in ‘leadership’ position: they write articles lamenting their ‘leaders’.

Cry me a river. If I don’t like what I hear, I don’t watch. Same reason I don’t watch Keif Olbermann.

Why don’t you spend your time worrying about what Obozo does. He has a real ability to ruin your life. Beck has no power to tax you or take away your liberties.

Beck is a commentator, not a “leader”.

You can only “jump the shark” once.

GB may not be uplifting, but he is commentator and news analyst, not a televangelist. He frequently admits he has always been an optimist about America, but lately has been feeling rather depressed about the economic disaster that is looming. I agree. Things are going to get much, much worse before they get better, if they get better at all. There’s no guarantee that they will. But at least there’s one person on a TV who is willing to tell the truth without sugarcoating it.

The article is not entirely off-base.
I think Beck has done a very commendable job exposing the rancid structure of Obama, his appointees, ACORN , SEIU and how each is linked to the other. His weak point is the “manner” in which he appears to do so- as if in half-jest has potential for unserious impact. Further, this creates a SNL caricature and runs the risk of obscuring substance for style.
