well does it violate your state constitution?
What a f(censored) idiot.
No, TABOR was initiated by a majority (2/3s) vote of the Colorado House and Senate BEFORE it went to a vote of the citizens. This, including the vote of the electors, is in full compliance with Article XIX of the Colorado Constitution which addresses constitutional amendments.
I heard a little of this flake. He may be a
“Republican” but he damn sure is a leftist.
Democrat infiltrator in the party.
win in court ..
Not at all. The socialists have been squirming under TABOR since the day it became law. This is just an old arguement dressed up as a US constitutional, vice Colorado State constitutional, question. As the author said” Put another way: Herb and his ilk don’t like tax caps because it doesn’t let Colorado be completely irresponsible with it citizen’s money”
Colorado Springs follows TABOR and, following the defeat of a tax increase this fall, has had to make some choices. Interestingly, two things seem to be happening. 1. Politicians somehow “find” money and 2. individuals come together to develop private solutions e.g. car pool to Denver instead of riding the taxpayer subsidized, money losing bus (FREX).
I need to look into this “Republican”.
It’s a Colorado thing. Range Republicans also do all that they can to prevent drilling for uranium and oil and to prevent owners from using their private properties. It’s the NIMBY/HOA, local big government State.
Yea...well...he lives in Boulder, which for Boulder he probably appears insanely conservative. Recall that Boulder is the city that once (maybe more) proposed taxing people who drove into its city limits.
I’m not trying to defend this guy or his POV but the legislature can’t pass a law giving away authority the U.S. Constitution mandates that it has. Whether this guy has a point or not I don’t know. He lives in Boulder so my gut feeling is “no.” lol
Calling Douglas Bruce.
“Herb Fenster, an attorney in Boulder”
Boulder/Republical, Republical???? There aren’t any!
Huck Ferb Henster. If he doesn’t like it, he can take his sorry @$$ to Kalifornia.
Cheers!
“He may be a Republican but he damn sure is a leftist.”
Like most Republicans which is why I am not a Republican anymore.
Multiculti my sweet patoot.
I think “taxing and spending” are the operative terms. Sounds like the legislature there wants to be free and loose with the people’s money.
That Tax layers bill of Rights is something every state needs to keep these government leeches on a short leash.Without it they will tax your property right out from under your feet.
