Thanks for the verification. Although I was familar with the “Ralph Spoilsport” mantra from the Firesign Theater when I lived on the East Coast, in the 70s, it was not until I moved to LA in the mid 80s that I learned it was based on Ralph Williams. At that time RW was shilling for Wilson Ford.
When I saw him standing in front of the Zot 9000 I first thought it was J. Edgar Hoover, but then thought “or maybe Ralph Williams”. Then in the next frame they call him Ralph. The Spoilsport-like doubletalk spiel ending in “spork-weasel” clinched it.
It’s got to be the most subtle Firesign Theater reference I’ve ever run across.
