You are correct, however, when most people talk of non-profit organizations they generally mean, right or wrong, as a tax-exempt one. I personally think it is refreshingly honest that they are a for profit group. I am getting tired of the sanctimonious “I’m a pauper for my beliefs” people

It’s rather a meta-topic for this thread, but making a mistake because a lot of people make it doesn’t really educate people.

Also, organizations are not individuals, and I haven’t really heard too many organizations speaking, much less claiming they are paupers for their beliefs.

Non-profits actually pay salaries to their workers, including the people who run them, and you can become quite rich running a non-profit organization.

I used to get my electricity from a non-profit company, and they paid their workers and their directors, collected money from me regularly for their services, and whenever they found that they had ended up with more money than they needed to run the operation, they would send me a check-refund.

I have nothing against for-profit companies, I just have an aversion to misleading and inaccurate information.
