My district is safe. Todd Platts is a pretty solid conservative, and doesn’t appear to have any “blue dog” running against him.
Lets get it straight here about Pennsylvania’s 19th District.
Todd Platts is a wavering meandering middle of the road politican.
The incumbent Republican in the 19th District has involved himself in the Republican Main Street Partnership with the like of Ray LaHood, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins etc.
Platts supported the “hate crimes” legislation with pride last year.
He was also an early supporter of the Campaign Finance Reform law championed by John McCain.
National Right To Life gave Platts a 91 percent rating in his first two year 2001-2002.
For 2007-2008 their rating for Platts was 57 percent.
And there’s plenty more.
A challenger from the business community, Mike Smeltzer, is considering a run against Platts in the May primary.
And on a personal note, back in 1976 when I went to high school with the Platts family, they supported Gerald Ford for president (the RINO) while I supported Ronald Reagan.
Stay tuned.......
Todd Platts is anything but a solid conservative. Mike Smeltzer is challenging him in the upcoming primary and he’ll get my vote after meeting him and chatting about his beliefs. Mike Smeltzer will be the guest speaker at the York 912 Patriots meeting on March 4. I believe you can find information on their website at york912patriots.com.
Todd has never introduced any legislation. It infuriates me that he voted for the hate crimes legislation and frankly, I believe he’s been there too long!
Here’s an interesting blog post about Platts:
