I’d say almost the opposite: At 16, few girls are ugly, unless they make themselves so by hating themselves or the world. It’s all about poise, confidence and attitude. When I went to my first pro-life march in my late twenties, I joked, “Wow... I wish I’d’ve come when I was in college,” because there were tens of thousands of 16-25-year-old women and not a one of them unattractive. On the other hand, the anti-war demonstrators and socialists, etc... yiiiish!
It didn’t have to do with personal beautification... the prolifers tended to look much more natural. Some small measure of that may have to do with the healthier environs of red states. Seriously, I think this is what it had to do with: The leftists saw their bodies as a canvass, and often the painter was expressing hatred and anger. The prolifers simply let God and nature make themselves beautiful.
Please note that this is extreme generalization, looking only at the politicized extremes of both groups. This is not at all to say that all blue-staters or all liberals are physically unattractive, or that all red-staters or conservatives are physically attractive.
