Ashoka's edict pillars (the emperor of India, a bloodthirsty conqueror who converted to Buddhism when he had a change of heart, what a wuss) erected on the frontiers of his realm were inscribed with his message in ARAMAIC, and those were in modern Afghanistan. That's just a fact. Ashoka flourished 2500 years ago.
