A poll of registered voters in Illinois' 17th Congressional District shows about 40 percent of those surveyed would vote to re-elect Congressman Phil Hare (D-Rock Island) if the election were held today.
The poll, commissioned by QuincyNews.org, was conducted by We Ask America on November 22 between 4:30 PM - 6:30. In all, 15,000 random residential phone numbers of registered voters in the 17th Congressional District were dialed, resulting in 1,278 people taking the poll. The numbers dialed were randomly selected.
I honestly think with all the Democrat carnage floating around, that we’re looking at +45 House seats at least, and around +6 in the Senate.
This would be ideal. A full congressional takeover of both chambers would possibly help Obama’s re-election like it did Clinton.
Taking just the House and cutting off the Dems 60-votes would effectively stall Obama, preventing further destruction but helping him look ineffectual in the process.
yeah does anyone know if this guy has a credible opponent? if not one of us should move to the district and put our name on the ballot
Oh no! lets not retake the Congress!
Strategery, kemosabe.
If we take Congress and get things done, then Obummer gets credit...
...although it could all be different now. He might fall into the abyss no matter what.
A political Party exists to lead.
Clinton survived because Dole ran against him, and Newt was the Speaker and didn't allow the new class to be real conservatives.
We have a second chance to actually send people to D.C. who want to dismantle it.
Forget Hare. I’m supporting the tortoise.
Rock Island is a big military and defense contracting town (my company has a big contract there). No reason we shouldn’t be able to take this one.
Mmm... not really. The Arsenal is there and it’s a large employer but manufacturing is still the biggest source of jobs. That means unions. It’s also a place with a lot of older voters and that means New Deal Democrats. I don’t think this is a great Republican pickup. The seat’s been democratic for years.
Why think so small. Lets go for +200 and +33
Noted. I’ve never been, but from those who have there is not much else there. Thene again, I have no idea how far the congressional ditrict extends.
