Link Between Ft. Hood Terror Attack and Attempt on Northwest 253 Troubling for Obama

Here is video of President Obama making a statement again yesterday about the attempted terrorist attack on Northwest Airlines Flight 253. Obama continued to call terrorist Umar Farouk Abdumutallab an "extremist," which is what he called him during his first statement - "an isolated extremist."

To be sure, Abdumutallab is an "extremist," but that really does not cover it and Obama knows it. Abdumutallab is an Islamic Jihadist trained and sent out by Al-Qaeda in Yemen.

Very interestingly, he has been linked to the same radical Islamic cleric in Yemen that Fort Hood terrorist Nidal Malik Hasan had been in communication with prior to his attack on soldiers there:

The suspect in the Christmas day bombing attempt on Northwest Flight 253 may have been in contact with a radical imam, Anwar Al-Awlaki, linked to the 9/11 hijackers and Fort Hood Shooting suspect.

Sources tell the CBS News investigative unit that they believe Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab communicated with Al-Awlaki while Abdulmutallab was a student in the United Kingdom.

Both men lived in London, though it is not clear whether their time there overlapped. Abdulmutallab apparently attended a talk by Al-Awlaki at London mosque, though Al-Awlaki, barred from entering Britain since 2006, addressed the meeting by video teleconference.

President Obama and his administration have worked hard all year to stop using the phrase "War on Terror," essentially declaring it to be over, or that it never existed. They refused to call the Hasan attack at Fort Hood a "terrorist attack," despite overwhelming proof to the contrary. Now, with the Northwest Flight 253 attempt, they used labeled it an "attempted terrorist attack," but downplayed it anyway by calling Abumutallab an "isolated extremist." But evidence is showing that he was not "isolated," but rather well-connected to an organized network seeking to attack the United States, and he very well may have been linked to the Fort Hood attacker - at least by association to the same leader - Al-Awlaki.

Obama has put himself in a very tough spot. If he tells the truth and admits what we are really facing, he is also admitting just how wrong his administration has been for a year about the "War on Terror." If he does not, and continues the charade of downplaying the threat we face, he puts the nation at greater risk on the altar of political correctness.

Obama does not want to identify the enemy for who they are - Islamic Jihadists working together to destroy our way of life because they hate the values and principles America has stood for. We are at war and the enemy will never rest in their desire to harm us. They can't be negotiated with or pacified. We must be more determined to destroy them than they are to destroy us.

Of course, like 9/11, they are all just "isolated incidents". The American courts system can handle it just fine.

I agree. It is a very big story. I was glad to see CBS News do a story on it (as linked to above). Hopefully they will stay on it and others will follow.
