How about poor old CS Lewis?

He died on November 22, 1963.

Finny unfortunately they had difficulty getting lots of spitfires, for filming.

An expert (not me) can tell they modified many of the planes to resemble them. Quite the debate on the comment sections of you tube entries.

From my understanding they got lots of the planes from Spain.

Thank you so much.

We're still in shock, the coming days, months & years will never be the same. His strong faith is a comfort to us all.

Cool! Next time we watch, we’ll remember that of Squadron Leader Rex, who described the French’s retreat from the Germans as a “typical Dago shambles.” So very British!

Hmmmmm ... I guess they're having fun arguing nonsense, then. I have it on excellent authority ... there's nothing one can modify to make another plane look like a Spitfire; no other plane has a wing profile like the lovely Spitfire, and if one reshaped the wing onto another plane, it wouldn't fly properly. The planes you see in "Piece of Cake" are all real Spitfires. The YouTube folks are mistaken. The BOOK "Piece of Cake" was focused on Hawker Hurricanes, not Spitfires, so in that respect, the TV version is inaccurate.

I live with an aviation expert who makes his living as such in an international capacity. When Piece of Cake was done 20 years ago there weren't any Spitfire replicas, as there are now. What you see in the film are real, original (if restored) Spitfires, he says.

Now, in the movie Memphis Belle, there were only four B 17s to start with, and they crashed one in filming, so there were really only three used in much of the movie, though they filmed it such that it looked like there were many more. But no planes were modified to look like B 17s in that movie, either.

Just FYI!

Original clip from Piece of Cake. This clip was done for real by the late, Great Ray Hannah in Spitfire MH 434 of the Old Flying Machine Co. based at Duxford. UK. The programme makers were going to use models/special effects for this sequence. Ray said he would do it for real and he did.

Thanks for the explanation.

I was following some of the comments on some of the youtube videos.

Some of those folks know their stuff.

Heck, Piece of Cake is worth the watch just for the sound track.

Condolences to you and your family.

I'm the oldest son, I was always the hardheaded rebel, 'do it may way' guy.

It wasn't till I was in my late 30's that I finally went to work for my father's business.

My respect for him grew each day as I leaned practically everyone I met, every sales call I made, that that person truly liked and admired my father.

I can't tell you have dumbfounded I was at this realtity.

My dad was tough as nails, but fair & honest.

I miss him even at age 51, telling me how to do things and how things are in the world.

...and mostly how Jesus is our salvation. ...eternal life.

Something for me to work on in his passing.
