The public option is out, along with Medicare expansion. I consider this a huge victory for conservatives. Did you seriously expect the dems not to pass anything? All this stuff can be reversed in 2011 or 2013. A govt run insurance option would probably never get reversed, like Medicare or soc sec.

Does anybody actually know what stuff this is? AFAIK, there has yet been no public reading.

In the end, the law will end up being whatever people can be made to believe that it is, regardless of the disposition of the ink stains on the particular piece of paper to which Baraq al-Husseini eventually adds one of his own.

I don't think so. Unless the GOP takes back both Houses, along with a super-majority in the Senate, I don't see anything changing. And, even if they did somehow manage that - which I believe is close to mathematically impossible in the Senate - Obama would veto anything they passed.

I'm afraid, like any other significant entitlement legislation, once it here, it's here to stay.
