Tim Walberg is the guy who defeated the GOP’s chosen Rino (Schwarz) in 06. After defeating Schwarz the GOP gave Walberg minimal support in the general election. Walberg served one term before being stripped of funds by the NRCC right before the election last winter. They called him a lost cause and left him to lose by a whopping 2%. Basically the GOP treated Walberg the way they treated Hunter in the presidential race.

Rooney himself doesn’t sound like a bad guy but I do question why he would allow the NRCC to use him to manipulate a primary race when he could just as easily gone to a district without a conservative candidate. Also I think he should run for state senator or something first. (I would definitely vote for him in that case) Then there’s uncle Dan Rooney who was appointed ambassador to Ireland by Obama. Granted its just a family tie but it does make me nervous without seeing how Brian legislates.

I don’t think the NRCC is making an endorsement in that primary. At least I couldn’t find anything on that. Hunter is acting on his own, and is seeking out conservative Iraq/Afghanistan vets to raise money for. Hunter has zero love for the NRCC. Sounds like he’s doing his son a favor. Duncan D. served with Rooney in Iraq. But if your guy is Walberg, I can see how it is not appreciated.
