It happened. We even kept a list on that thread that was cited above. There were dozens. Many of them “fell on their own grenades”, but the purges were real.

You could probably come up with dozens of names of people that felt very uncomfortable on FreeRepublic trying to support a pro-gun control, pro-abortion candidate, but I'd be interested in seeing a couple of names of people that "got the heave-ho for disagreeing".
