An Atlanta-area sheriff pulled over a “yankee”-plated car for doing 17mph over the speed limit.
Sheriff: “Boy, do you know how fast you were going?”
Yankee” “Not as fast as Sherman.”
Don’t laugh. My wife, driving a Rhode Island plated car, got pulled over doing 81 in a 65 mph zone on I-95 in Arlington, VA. Because she mistakenly thought they really drove like Smokey and the Bandit movies down South and that Virgina was in the South. Fifteen over the limit is “reckless driving by speed” in Virgina, requires a court appearance and carries a $2,500 penalty. The nice young trooper wrote her up for 79 mph. She had been doing 95 mph in North Carolina. I think that involves handcuffs.
