As a history buff, and espicially German history, the Kristalnacht is one of the worst things I could ever experience, even second-hand.
Having spent two years in Germany, within 30 years of the pogroms, it is all very sensitive to me.
There is no doubt that Hitler was Satan’s minion from WWI.
This is almost better than Monday night football.
Thanks, Civ, for reminding us all of this horrible event.
This week is full of commemorations.
ARMISTICE DAY NOVEMBER 11
Remember those who died for Freedom.
A chilling reminder from the past to keep up our guard and protect our freedom.
“Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you, from failing hands, we throw
The torch: be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields”.
Composed at the battlefront on May 3, 1915
during the second battle of Ypres, Belgium
IN FLANDERS FIELDS
The Worlds Most Famous WAR MEMORIAL POEM
By Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead: Short days ago,
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved: and now we lie
In Flanders fields!
Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you, from failing hands, we throw
The torch: be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields
After reading your post, I can only repeat these words from Anne Frank:
“I live in a crazy time.”
