I agree. I think he was both, as are virtually all Islamic Jihadist Terrorists. They hate America, and everything we stand for.

Yes, but unfortunately, many of them manage to execute their evil objectives much more effectively than Hasan did, despite much less education. The 13 people murdered at Ft. Hood is horrible, but this isn’t exactly another 9/11, and by Middle East terrorism standards, it barely registers as a blip.

I’m glad Hasan’s mental condition was such that he wasn’t able to harness the full power of his intellect and scientific training. It makes me shudder to think how easily he could have boarded a packed military transport plane with enough explosives in his duffel bag to take it down, or how easily he could have scattered anthrax spores throughout nearly all of Walter Reed in just one shift. I really don’t think he had any accomplices though (which he would have needed to obtain anthrax in a sericeable form) — he was probably a loner, who wanted to be part of the big al Qaeda conspiracy, but either didn’t know how to connect with it, or had been passed over due to mental instability.
