There were some warnings from the State Dept. about visas, etc.!!!

There may have been advisories about the risk to the safety of travelers choosing to journey to Pakistan but that was the extent of it. There was never any 'ban' on travel to Pakistan as there was (and presumably still is) regarding Communist Cuba (for example).

If you can come up with official State Department documents to the contrary, by all means please do.
