This list is not comprehensive and contains arrests and charges regardless of the resolution of the cases. Outcomes of cases that have been resolved range from the dropping of all charges to guilty pleas and convictions.

Anyone want to do a racial breakdown of this list? I bet it confirms Rush's Crips and Bloods remark. Of course, anyone who follows the NFL knows his comment was right.

In compiling a list of 308 arrests and citations involving NFL players since 2000, The Union-Tribune could find legal resolutions to 268 incidents. Among the 40 where no legal resolution could be found, most are since June and are still pending. Here is a breakdown of those that were resolved:

Convictions, diversion programs, fines: 68 percent

Dropped without penalty: 26 percent

Acquittals: 6 percent

Most by team

Cincinnati: 23

Minnesota: 21

Kansas City: 19

Drunken driving: 32 percent

Fights, assaults and disorderly conduct: 21 percent

Domestic violence/violence against women: 17 percent

Drug-related: 13 percent

Fifty NFL players have been arrested or cited for more than one crime since January 2000, accounting for at least 122 incidents. Here are the players with at least three incidents:

12 years: Dallas safety Dwayne Goodrich, who was convicted of criminally negligent homicide for a 2003 crash

10 years: New York Giants defensive end Jeremiah Parker, who was convicted of second-degree child endangerment for his role in the death of an ex-girlfriend's 4-year-old son in 2001.

NFL ALCOHOL POLICY

“The Commissioner will review and may impose a fine, suspension, or other appropriate discipline if a player is convicted of or admits to a violation of the law (including within the context of a diversionary program, deferred adjudication, disposition of supervision,or similar arrangement including but not limited to nolo contendere) relating to the use of alcohol.

“Absent aggravating circumstances, discipline for a first offense will generally be a fine of one-half (1/2) of one-seventeenth (1/17) of the amount in Paragraph 5 of the NFL Player Contract to a maximum of $20,000. If the Commissioner finds that there were aggravating circumstances, including but not limited to felonious conduct or serious injury or death of third parties, and/or if the player has had prior drug or alcohol-related misconduct, increased discipline up to and including suspension may be imposed.

“Discipline for a second or subsequent offense is likely to be a suspension, the duration of which may escalate for repeat offenses.”

The only two that I know are white are Eric Steinbach and Rob Reynolds. There’s about 5 or 6 on the list I don’t know about, but the others are black. It’s funny seeing Reynolds and Santonio Holmes on the list as they are two of my least favorite Ohio St. players over the last decade. They were both thugs in college. Steinbach’s issue I think was an isolated incident because he’s been a model citizen with the Browns and one of their few good players. Sorry for rambling a bit.
