Yes, many/most fire departments have lowered their standards. Women typically flunked based on physical requirements, esp. “unimportant things” like the ability to carry a heavy reel of hose. Luckily, those standards have been changed so that everyone can fully participate and Wonder Woman can wait for her nails to dry while your house burns down.

The only female special forces are those in comic books. Incidentally, female special agents can try to join the FBI Hostage Rescue Team—the official one—not the lesser FBI field office SWAT teams—but they always wash out—along with 75% of the men....the moment any woman’s standard is lowered because she wants to join special forces, all the men will lose respect for her, and wouldn’t want to be around her. They will always have doubt on whether or not she can handle it—and doubt just leads to dead American soldiers. Sure, they can do spying mostly as honey traps...
