Obama’s plan is simple, if horrible. Simply send in an insufficient number of troops and hamstring them with oppressive rules of engagement. Also don't update their equipment. Eventually they will be virtually unarmed as supplies and replacement run out. Then wait for a series of lost battles and high casualties. Since defeat is now inevitable there will be 100% agreement for a pull out. The left because they want the terrorists to win, and the right because they are tired of our soldiers being killed for nothing.

Obama is only stumped in trying to figure out how to keep the left happy. In the debates, he was quite hawkish on Afghanistan. Maybe the taliban is a group opposed to his brand of islam, I don’t know, but I really expected him to make the Afghan campaign a much larger operation than even Iraq.

Because he can’t just “Vote ‘Present’”.

Let me guess: because he doesn’t know what the “f” he is doing?

No. He is one of them. He was trained in Pakistan. The Pakistan where young muslims go for “training.”
The goal is to humiliate the U.S. military, get more troops killed and to then retreat. Islam scores a great victory like the one they scored in November 2008.

Well, I think it’s a little more simple than this. He’s in a pickle because fundamentally, deep down, he doesn’t think it’s RIGHT that we “win.” Therefore, there is not reasonable outcome in which the bad guys just “go away” and we don’t have to win. It’s silly, and dangerous.

I've seen this scenario before. I'm probably older than most on this discussion group, and I not only remember Vietnam, I was serving in the Navy at the time. I remember President Johnson's decision not to run for a second term. The liberal press was supporting Vietnam at first. The MSM was covering up for Kennedy and Johnson then just as they are covering up for Obama now.
There are two factors working in Obama’s favor. First, there is no draft. Believe me, if there was one, things would be very different. The MSM would be chanting, “Hell NO, We Won't Go!”
Secondly, Obama is sorta black. Any criticism of Obama’s handling of foreign affairs is considered racist. The MSM has a vested interest in protecting Obama. They see Obama as a microcosm of the black race in America. If Obama fails, all blacks fail. Blacks that hold conservative views are not considered black by the MSM.

That is , of course, what he wanted you to think, he was after the independent vote and some conservatives with that tactic. He never meant it, EVER. In fact one of his advisors, forget which, admitted several days ago that he was just using it as a campaign tactic as if it is perfectly acceptable to lie your a** off in order to be elected.

Wake up people. He is one of them. This is all designed to himiliate the U.S. military.
The left and muslims will be thrilled. He is both of them and they are the same.

In the debates, he was quite hawkish on Afghanistan. In the debates, he was a lot of things that aren't apparent today. In the debates, he and Acorn hardly knew each other. Only later did the video come out of him promising to have Acorn advise him in the Oval Office.

I believe he’s shocked the liberal press of Europe more than anyone else. Remember...they all had Gitmo penciled in to close by now. They also had the Iraq war ending with Obama in office. Some liberal press folks in Germany are totally shocked because they now have more troops in Afghanistan than when Bush was in office.

Don’t hammer me on this but Afganistan really reminds me of Viet Namn. The bad guys can go hide and resupply in no-go zones in Pakistan and Iran and we can’t go after them. As long as they can resupply there and pick up recruits in both border areas we’re going to have problems.
Too many boots on the ground with their hands tied and you risk losing the Afgan people. Too few and you lose. A tough road to hoe no matter what.
