You ROCK!
Did I tell you my grandson is in Afghanistan? In the thick of the fighting.
Do you have any advice for how a G-Ma can get through this stuff?
Not really.
I never went to combat myself, so that’s an entirely different ballgame from what I know.
I only had to worry about Clinton era budget cuts increasing equipment breakages and equipment failure induced accidents.
That’s alot less worrisome than having someone in combat.
(Anyone who tells you otherwise isn’t being honest with you or themself.)
The quantifier stated, I’ll give it a shot:
He is serving in the greatest military this planet has ever seen, received the best training available, and is among fellow professionals.
He understands his oath of service, and the inherent risks involved.
His sense of duty is strong, to be overly fearful would be out of place.
Yes, worry about him as would be normal, but don’t let it overwhelm you.
He is a soldier, and that is a rare trait these days.
Be proud of him, pray for his safety, and trust that those around him will be there with him and for him when it hits the fan.
When I served, I wished that I had someone backing me up and telling me they were proud of me.
I didn’t have that.
I regret it, because I now feel cheated.
