What's more some of those adults raised their children in racist households. Told their children that white people would never accept them as equals. Told them all sorts of garbage that translates to baggage and feelings of inadequacy.

The election of Barack Obama did not "suddenly mean" that a black person could "do anything". The potential was always there. The achievements of others will still depend on their own efforts.

Before Apollo 11, it was an impossibility for men to walk on the moon. We have the technologies now.

I could possibly walk on the moon, but I am unlikely to ever get to do so.

You should sue the government for the missed opportunity. Clearly we need affirmative action for those people who could never make it into the space program without a prescreened selection process. /s

You’re correct about Obama’s election. The opportunity was always there. Until now, the problem has been that successful black men in the public eye were either conservative and therefore considered uncle toms or were angry hate-mongers like Sharpton and Jackson with no chance of being taken seriously.

Obama chose the “high road” so-to-speak, but most of us aren’t fooled.
