It’s hard to know why President Obama said what he said at Tuesday’s health-care town hall in New Hampshire. He actually stated, “If you think about it, UPS and FedEx are doing just fine. It’s the Post Office that’s always having problems.”

Just guessing Obama was trying to argue that the public option would be no threat to private plans, but didn’t realize what he was admitting by his observation.

Points on this: The Postal Service survives only because of taxpayer funding AND because it has a legal monopoly on “letters”. UPS and Fed Ex cannot deliver regular mail by law, or they would put the post office out of business. Likewise, government health care would “win” with a worse product because laws will be in place to make it the winner.

The postal service also is not allowed to make a profit, just like they want to eliminate profit from health care. the post office thereby has antiquated facilities and inefficient operations because there is no profit motive.

The postal service has a much simpler task, the delivery of mail. It fails at that compared to free enterprise, many postal facilities look like something left over from the 60’s. Do that to the health care system that brings you doctors, MRI’s, chemo, transplants, drugs, prosthetics, etc and you will have a disaster of poor care.

LOL, yeah - he was trying to say (in his own hopelessly incompetent way) that private insurance would still be able to compete after government takeover, but he picked absolutely the WORST example he could have possibly come up with for it.

Viewers scratched their head & said: "Wait. He wants to 'reform' our health care system so we can have government managed & protected monoploly just like the Post Office - which even he admits delivers a rotten product poorly? THAT'S THE REFORM THIS MORON HAS IN MIND?"

LOL! The TOTUS blog must be having a blast with that one.
