I think we need to be a little less cavalier about the prospect of insurrection. The Bible says to submit to authority and trust in God’s plan.
So I take you disapprove of that nasty "American Revolution" thingy that took place some time ago?
Not very submissive was it.
>I think we need to be a little less cavalier about the prospect of insurrection. The Bible says to submit to authority and trust in Gods plan.
Where does the Bible say that you are to treat your rights as worthless? Or do you forget the condemnation Esau received for selling his birth-right for a meal? Do you not remember that God said to Noah, after the flood, that should a man shed man’s blood then his blood should be shed by man because man is created in God’s image? (That is, capital punishment for murder.)
Also, what about the American ideal of a government ‘By the People’? Or do you consider yourself not of ‘the People’?
Micha 6:8 says that to DO Justly is what God requires of man; where is the justice in letting a corrupt elite conspire to rob, plunder, and do violence against any who get in their way?
Remember the book of Esther: where the political elite took it into their hands to make a law legalizing the killing of the jews? Remember how the queen’s maneuvering got another law passed; one which allowed the jews to gather together, armed, and defend themselves? Tell me what would have happened if they hadn’t taken advantage of that ability to defend themselves saying “it is legal that they should kill us; we should submit to authority!”?
The truth is that the Founding Fathers recognized that Government was not friendly to the people, and ensured the recognition of God given rights: hence, the Bill of Rights.
Amendment 2 states: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state; the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
This was to ensure a free state, is says so itself, and the military oath is not to the president, the congress, or the USSC, but to the Constitution. In other words, they recognized the very real danger of a corrupt government; and a corrupt government is an anathema to the free state they sought to create.
Haha....if god’s followers had a GPS and weren’t so passive they could have found their destination in less than 40 years and given the Romans a run for their money.
The context is clearly 'within the church'.
Otherwise you have to explain to me how God selected and ordained hitler, et al. Those who try it come across as real idiots.
