Gov. Mike Huckabee Explains Why Government Health Care is a Bad Idea - Video 8/8/09

Here is video of former Gov. Mike Huckabee explaining why he personally believes Government Health Care is a bad idea.

Essentially, Huckabee opposes ObamaCare because he said he "knows how government works." He went on to say that government does not have to do anything efficiently or effectively, because it can simply tax more, print more money, or borrow money to do as it pleases. With Congress, he said you have "537 cooks wanting to add their own seasoning" to the stew. There is no way to trust that government would do health care better or at a lower cost than the current system.

Huckabee here hits on the primary practical problem with ObamaCare. Conservatives can oppose it on philosophical grounds, but Huckabee has focused on the practical reality that there is no way Government can effectively and efficiently run something as massive as the Health Care System. . . . . . Sorry I won’t listen to anything Huckabee or Palin have to say. I can’t take them seriously.

On this, Huckabee really does make a lot of sense.

I saw the whole show...the best explanation came from Michael Levitt. He pointed out that the bill was written in ambiguous language on purpose. When the bill is passed, it will be implemented and "interpreted" by the bureaucracy which will set the "rules".

Thus, as always, the fine points of the law will actually be written by unelected and unaccountable people.

If you are 64 or older, kiss your children, loved ones and your ass good bye....since you are basically toast.

Of course, congress persons, bureaucrats and the "super rich" all will be exempt...which is the most galling aspect of this mess, IMO...

A serious question.

Why is that?

They don’t come off as sincere to me...or maybe it’s not that but rather that they don’t have the gravitas or intellect to be able to communicate sincerely enough for my taste.

To even discuss the possibility that government might seize control of health care is to concede that it has exceeded its enumerated powers.

However, there is an even more important reason why this must be shot down: socialism cannot work. Give the following to liberal friends and watch them squirm:

“Without calculation, economic activity is impossible. Since under Socialism economic calculation is impossible, under Socialism there can be no economic activity in our sense of the word ... All economic change, therefore, would involve operations the value of which could neither be predicted beforehand nor ascertained after they had taken place. Everything would be a leap in the dark. Socialism is the renunciation of rational economy.” — Ludwig von Mises, Socialism, 1981, pp. 103-105.

Huckabee is a gifted speaker. He is great at throwing zingers at foes.

Examples of zingers are:

1) Romney is the candidate of change. He changes his positions every 5 weeks.

2) Obama struggles with federal spending in the same matter I struggled with obesity.
