The Israelis shouldn’t read more into this than any other outrageous demand. They should just succinctly state that this is Israeli sovereign territory, that the US has no business in interfering in Israel’s internal affairs, and importantly, to add that if the US is willing to accept the Palestinian immigrants it feels are unfairly treated, that Israel will be more than willing to pay for their one way ticket to the United States.
And once again, let me suggest that Israel should offer each and every Palestinian on the Gaza Strip a percentage of a pool of $10 billion to permanently emigrate to Egypt. Evenly divided between all of the Gaza Palestinians, this would amount to three times the annual wage in Egypt.
A family of six would therefore be paid 18 times the annual average salary in Egypt. This would easily make them middle class, by Egyptian standards, so they would not be charges on Egyptian society.
However, in accepting the money, they would forgo any future right or ability to return to Gaza, the West Bank, or Israel, forever.
For a limited time, such a payment would be voluntary. But any Gazan engaged in criminal activities would be deported to Egypt as well.
Relocate the Palestinians to North Dakota. The state's economy is booming.
Egypt wouldn’t accept that, but Canada is a real big country that’s only lightly populated.
