Obama's agenda; Narco-Nation Building

Hey, guys, don’t pick the poppies.

That’s the order from the Obama Administration to the 4,000 Marines presently engaged in Operation Khanjar or “Strike of the Sword,” an invasion of the Taliban infested Helmand Province in southern Afghanistan.

The Marines of Bravo’s Company 1st Platoon sleep beside groves of poppies Troops of the 2nd Platoon walk through the fields on strict orders not to swat the heavy opium bulbs. The Afghan farmers and laborers, who are engaged in scraping the resin from the bulbs, smile and wave at the passing soldiers.

The Helmand province is the world's largest cultivator of opium poppies - the crop used to make heroin.

Not your fault, but lousy choice of title.

Per the site Obama’s First Order: Don’t Hurt the Heroin would have been better, the Marines are following lawful orders.

Obama... Ensuring his supply of heroin.

I suppose since his drug dealer friend in Honduras was impeached and evicted from that country Obama finds he has to secure another source of drugs for him and his shady friends.

Controlled substance versus a non-controlled substance? /sarcasm

Informative read. Leaves me scratching my head, as well, as to Barry’s intentions. My last understanding on the Afghan poppy/opium problem was that they were going to destroy/re-seed such fields and then train/re-train the Afghan poppy/opium farmers in how to grow wheat, etc. while propping up Afghanistan’s agriculture market programs. Hmm, not sure now.

Afghanistan Opium Crop Sets Record

Pres. Bush did a great job? Why not change strategy and adapt? There is nothing wrong with a PACE plan.

Our military needs to be focused on killing the enemy, not plants. I have no problem at all with this.

Pres. Bush did a great job?

Apparently you do not understand that the Bush Administration was protecting the "poppy fields" and now the Obama Administration is protecting "heroin cultivation."

Depriving the enemy of their means of generating cash and creating hardship within their communities are a basic part of warfare.

‘Depriving the enemy of their means of generating cash and creating hardship within their communities are a basic part of warfare.’

Indeed, the Federal Gov’t is doing that to us.

Apparently that's a revenue source for more than just our enemy. Would angering the local population that also grow the flowers that are friendly to us be worth whatever financial harm done to the enemy?

There are a lot of folks in California who’d appreciate that sort of consideration!

Another case of US Citizens receiving inferior treatment.

Who is Paul L. Williams, Ph.D. and why is he the only one who knows about this.
The story smells.

A thought crossed my mind on how to eradicate poppy production.....the Department of Agriculture could ruin their business in a couple of years without the Marines.
