She also now has the moral high ground. How many of us have privately looked down on politicians who campaign for a new office while holding the old one. It is something that has rubbed me the wrong way for YEARS. Palin can now say: “ Hey I accomplished my goals in Alaska, I wanted to move forward with the same goals for America, and I had the moral fortitude to do whats best for Alaska and give the reins of power over to the Lt. Governor before beginning my campaign. I am not the kind of person who will take a paycheck from one elected office while running for another, sort of like Barak Obama did for his 3 years in the senate. I don’t just vote present.”
One other thing Palin has accomplished with her announcement is exposing all the “RINOS” in the party, and there are lots of them.
Brilliant! Exactly my sentiment! The high road is so strange to many people.
Thank you. Your post on campaigning for other office while still holding a current one is dead on. I have been saying this since Friday and am shocked that almost none of the Republican pundits can see this. They just can’t get past conventional politics.
Problem is due to campaign finance reform laws she won’t be running for President. At best she can start an exploratory committee, but if she chose to run for President now the money she raises would be subject to the law.
Absolutely, Palin will have the moral high ground. She’s making an appearance on Aug 8, yes? The media would’ve said she was neglecting her duties as Gov. Now they can’t.
