Read her speech, she told us exactly why.

I did. The "lame duck" thing seemed particularly strange. The people of Alaska elected her to a four year term, not a term limited by her sense of contribution. I suppose I would have understood it if she had something like "the recent national election has made me a national figure, and I intend to run for president, and since that is a demanding job, I will leave Alaska in the capable hands of the Lt. Governor."

The "fighting for Trig" on a national basis seemed even more strange. Would a national campaign make her more or less vulnerable to "mean spirited adults?" You can't have the warm family time theme and the national campaign theme in the same breath without making them both sound compromised.

She's going to run for President. Great. But she needs to get a decent speech writer one of these days.

How about her statement that frivolous accusations had cost Alaskan tax payers $2 million dollars and consumed most of her time and her staff’s time? That she considered it unfair to Alaska to waste their time and money? Are her straightforward words too much to believe?
