Morgan Freeman: Why Do We Need a Black History Month, I am an American
Patriot Room ^ | June 27, 2009 | Bill Dupray

So what is Freeman's solution to the "race problem?" Why stop talking about it, of course. Mike Wallace has no frickin' idea how to handle that kind of blasphemous candor.

"Mike Wallace asked Morgan how do we get rid of racism?

Morgan replied "when we stop talking about it"

When we stop breaking our arms patting ourselves on the back for electing someone because of his skin color and pretending that proves we're past judging people based on skin color.

Makes about as much sense as pretending a fetus is only a baby if the mother decides it is.

Or virtually every other tenet the Democratic Party stands for.

Somebody should send the word to PBS. Half of their evening programming is devoted to re-opening old racial wounds and setting the races against one another. (The other half is propaganda for the gay lifestyle).

I haven't heard of any crosses being burned by white-sheeted KKK'ers in at least the time Robert Byrd has served in the Senate. But their nightly fare about KKK rallies and documentaries about the genuine suffering of Blacks in the days of segregation seem to be designed to keep racial hatreds at the boiling point.

“I’m Jewish.”

There is peek into the window of the liberals mind in that response. Mike Wallace was actually shocked that Morgan Freeman wasn’t dancing in his chair for black history month. Therefore, he couldn’t say “good point” or anything else when asked “When is white history month?” “I’m Jewish.”

What I like about Freeman is that he still lives in Mississippi, and never got into the whole Hollywood thing.

I do see an Islamic History and Appreciation Month in our future before Barack leaves the White House in 2012. It’s coming.

AH!!! I Love it!!

I see that the interview is from a few years back, but good news NEVER gets old!

Thank you for the affirmation that at long last, one of my favorite actors, has shown that he is not simply pretending to be a wise man.

What truly irritates middle class black Americans is that they are not distinguished by other Americans from poor and lower class blacks.

After years of education and hard work, being lumped together with ignorant, poor, slothful and often criminal lower classes would annoy most anybody.

But this meets head on with the egalitarianism of especially whites, who reward the achievements of education and success by leaving successful people alone. Not just educated and successful blacks, but everyone who is educated and successful. There is no “community” of the middle classes, if anything, there is isolation.

So while uneducated and poor blacks are ignored, because others don’t want to associate with them; middle class blacks are ignored out of unspoken respect. But there is no way to tell the two things apart. They assume they are ignored because they are seen as “the same” as people far below their station. And this bugs the heck out of them.

I love the talented Morgan Freeman. Always have.

One thing I've noticed about Morgan Freeman in the roles he plays, is that he brings an aire of dignity to the roles. I can't remember the movie, but I remember he played President of the US, and he played the role very well. Of course, his role in "Driving Miss Daisy" was awesome, as was his role in "Glory." I think my favorite movie with him in it though was "Shawshank Redemption." Red was a terrific character.

I’ve said many times that black Americans are American through and through, as much so or more than any other group, going back 300, even 400+ years as some do with roots in Virginia, or close to that with Rhode Island and Massachussetts. Played a role in every flashpoint in our history, most have native blood coursing their veins ... stop with the separatism. It’s clearly not helping at all, has actually hurt.

I have some ancestors who owned slaves, and the majority who didn’t. I also have ancestors who were brought here indentured, and a majority who weren’t. At the rate things are going, I guess I should try to get something out of the ones who were bound. Not that anyone would give a crap.

Morgan Freeman is a great actor. His performace in “The Shawshank Redemption” is one of the best exhibits of acting talent I have ever seen.

I was never a racist but these assh*les that are obsessed with it are making me one real fast. Hell would freeze over before I would ever vote for a black for any office. NEVER! They make it all about race and it’s disgusting.

I would assume blacks get irritated by being lumped in with gays as similar minorities, also.

Shawshank Redemption is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Slingblade, too. Very gritty, very good. The Green Mile, that was a good one, too.

I was pretty amazed to discover that Black History Month was proclaimed by Congress in 1922, not circa 1968.

Richard Pryor said it best (agree/disagree, this is funny):

“Has anyone noticed that when they finally gave us a month of our own, that it’s the shortest month of the year?”

Wow! No wonder so few people have ever seen this interview. I'm sure it was cut up and shoved down the memory hole as quickly as humanly possible. Freeman kicked Wallace's a$$ so hard I bet ol' Mike couldn't sit down for a week!
Freeman's right, though; stop making race an issue and it'll die a nice quiet death. Liberals are the ones who can't let go of it as it is the very center of their power.

Freeman's had his personal issues, but damn if he is not a fount of common sense. I loved Wallace's stunned expression when Freeman turned the tables on him.

"I'm Jewish."

Ha!
