Maybe I'w wrong, but I thought Benjamin Disraeli was a Tory.

He was, although Tory/Conservative Whig/Liberal and so on was still being formulated at that time. Neither meant exactly what it does today.

Disraeli was born to a Jewish family that had immigrated to Britain from Spain. However, his father had a row with the Rabbi of the local synagogue after Benjamin was born and took him to be christened in the local Anglican church instead (it must have been one HELL of a row!) So culturally he may have been Jewish, but strictly speaking, he wasn’t in the religous sense.
