“We’re not going to let the white boys win this election” - Brazile from a few years ago - there’s somebody whose values and vision someone as shallow as McCain can really appreciate......

Yeah, the same Donna Brazile who smeared President H.W. Bush with (completely unfounded) rumors of infidelity (funny how a candidate’s personal life was fair game when it wasn’t Bill Clinton).

She’s a hack of the worst sort.

As for Megan McCain...girl, don’t go away mad, just go away.

Give that man a cigar. You hit that right on the head. Ignore her and she will vanish into some obscure part of the world that only “D” list celebtries go to. Would love to this moron on MTV eating bugs to win a date.

Unfortunately, genes do not instill a sense of propriety. That failure was the responsibility of her father.

Politics isn’t religion. Believing isn’t enough, not by a long ways. It’s the ultimate popularity contest. And a principled loser is still a loser and only a footnote in history.

my point was that you may have missed is that Lincoln was elected in a three way race...

and the GOP was born so I would not discount third parties absolutely

though with our demographics today in which the Left owns all but the white Christian plurality (shrinking as we speak as a plurality) we can’t have that luxury

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/05/10/i-dont-think-palin-is-the-future-of-the-gop-republican-says/

Democratic strategist Donna Brazile has her own ideas about who the GOP might look to, to help find its way out of the political wilderness.

“They’re having an internal discussion about what kind of a party would it like to be in the 21st century,” Brazile told King.

“I ran into Meghan McCain last night. And I have to tell you, Bill, she’s refreshing, she’s honest and she’s a face that could really help them galvanize young people and independents.”

The young McCain also had kind words for the Democratic strategist and former campaign manager for Al Gore.

Brazile “said she would kick some *ss for me if anyone attacks my weight again,” Meghan McCain tweeted Saturday night while attending the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington. “Who doesn’t love her?,” the daughter of Arizona Sen. John McCain rhetorically asked the Twitterverse.

Depending on which way it leans, a third party would divide the vote of one of the two major parties. So, a third party that attracted the conservative GOP base would virtually end the Republican party on a national level.

And yes, the nation’s changing, but it’s always been in the process of change. You don’t get to grow old in the same world you were born into. That was true for Hamilton as well as Lincoln. And it’s just as true today.

indeed but the demogrpahic shift racially the past 30 years has been exponentially greater than anything we've ever experienced in the past

Hamilton did not wake up in 30 years to see white Christians become a plurality rather than a majority

and for the newcomers to be largely victim class left leaning voters

there is no comparison...

America was mostly shared value same race folks from western Europe till after 1900 when the eastern Europeans streamed in and as is evident brought a new way of looking a things with them. Their grandchildren are now some of our leading leftists. Urbanize and secular and antagonistic to what made our nation great...our traditional values ideal.

It will be far worse than that once the brown wave gets entrenched.

The Irish immigrants were seen as a threat in the mid-1800s. The anti-papist cartoons and editorials were outrageous. Then, of course, there were the eastern Europeans, but also the Italians. On the West Coast there were the Chinese immigrants.

However, my statement was not intended to mean only immigration changes the nation. It was also intended to mean political as well as technological changes. George Washington and Hamilton, for instance, could not have imagined the changes made possible by the telegraph or the transcontinental railroad.

The Irish as of yet had not brooked collectivist thought like the eastern europeans

they did later though a bit after Easter

yes technology is both a boon and a curse

none of our great leaders except Reagan and maybe Teddy could have won the photogenic teleprompter battle

Technology basically changed assimilation forever. This is a subject not too many people want to broach, but it remains a fact.

When the Irish, Italians, Eastern European Jews came over, they pretty much placed an all or nothing bet. There was no going back — they were essentially broke — and little contact with their homeland.

Today, this has changed. Air travel is cheap, communication cheaper, and all manner of contact with homeland. It’s possible to immigrate to the U.S. from Mexico and not miss a single episode of a favorite soap opera or even change the brand of breakfast cereal.

Similarly, for those with high level skill sets, a job in L.A. is the same as a job in London or New York or Rome.

The world has become more complex.
