i attended Punahou from 1972-1978.We lived in Kahala on Kahala Ave.and this grips me to know end, Barry Dunham know known as Barack Obama, claims to have lived in Kaimuki, sort of a blue collar area at the time. ITS A LIE. Grandma Dunham was Sr VP at Bank of Hawaii and she lived on ROUND TOP DRIVE IN Makiki. An area income wise like that of Kahala. My three brothers all attended Punahou as well, all four of us had a class with Barry at one time or another. I had a class with Bobby Titcomb and Barry Dunham.
For any Punahou alumni to say they knew Barack Obama at Punahou is a stretch. Barry didn't drop the name Barry until he left Occidental College where HE DID file for financial aid as a foreign student. and he did recieve this aid that he applied for. My current dermatoligist attended Oxy along with Barry..My Dr. would had never brought it up but i had the Punahou Class Reunion shirt on that day of my appmt...and we compared what we both knew about Barry. what we came up with was he was not an outstanding student. c average at best, never made deans list at Punahou or the honours list at Punahou.
I do remember his pic in our year book, but that pic is now where posted on the net that i can see. its a close up of Barry...his left side, he is jumping to make a basket and for all the tea in Wisconsin, i would swear the number was 14 or 17. but perhaps, he had different numbers every year he played on the team...YEAH..RIGHT...Like Micheal Jordon finally wound up with number 23 after a series of number he went thru while a member of the Chicago Bulls...as Homey would say..I DON'T THINK SO..
