That’s a very interesting comparison. The video was evidently taken from the street across the grassy area and looking towards the POV of the still. Note the statue IN THE BACKGROUND in the opening frame of the video is the same as the statue in the foreground of the still. I can’t discern the video foreground statue in the still. The end of the pan in the video is the front of the building to the left in the still.
I can’t agree that the video gives a better estimate of the crowd size. In fact, by panning across the top like that, it can give the impression that the crowd extends further into the distance than it does. Maybe it was taken at a different time, and there actually were more people there than at the time the still was taken, but I wouldn’t assume it.
Whatever the numbers, I’m quite impressed by the respectable ( at least ) turnout at so many locations. I think the point was made, even if imminent insurrection is not a threat.
