Being a woman also, I feel the same way with trying to pull out a shotgun or rifle on quick notice indoors. We have rifles and shotguns on our farm for mostly target practice, but for protection in both our farm and home in the city, I have Smith & Wesson M&Ps (9 ml.)Lightweight and not too much kickback.
I’m eventually going to get my dust cover machined or drilled and tapped for the light mount. Gets dark out here in the sticks and I need to be able to see if I need it at night.
It’s a Rossi “Matched Pair”. Not sure of the serial number. I’ll have to ask my husband when he gets back home to tell me where to find that.
Curio and Relic licenses are the secret plan for arming America. $30 for 3 years and while you must keep records of your collection it's still a great opportunity.
A sweet piece, simple to field strip, a magazine that holds 13 rounds. I love it.
Exactly! I was like, I can afford to buy lots of ammo with it, which I did. Both kinds.
Thanks for your post. Ive been shopping for something like that for my youngest daughter. Sounds like a good price at Walmart!
Well, we have a 20 guage, a 12 guage (my son’s, but he left it here unless he hunting) and a 30 ought 6 (is that the correct spelling?) but they are so large and it’s hard to brace your shoulder against the kick of a shotgun when your arm is stretched so hard to reach the trigger.
So now buy a lot of ammo and go practice, so you won’t be a lousy shot like me!
thats purdy,
mines a beretta
No it’s not, a Purdy is a high end shotgun!
I’m in college for Criminal Justice Technology and will be a licensed private detective and able to go into police work immediately. Part of my courses is to take a quarter of gun safety, range practice shooting and of course getting permits and such. They go over about 10 different styles of guns the police departments use as well as private use. The Glock seems to be the gun of choice from what my instructors say, but they offer different ones that women with small hands (me) have a better control over.
So within a few months I’ll have all of that. I just wanted something I could handle until then. For a SHTF time if it came up. I want to wait to practice with the various guns they have at the range to decide which one I like the best for a pistol or revolver.
I like that one the poster put a picture of upthread, but it looks to cost about $600. That won’t be doable for a while.
I bought the same gun (Youth model) a couple of years ago for the grandkids to shoot up at our farm. It is a very nice, inexpensive weapon. It takes less than a minute change barrels and is fun to shoot. I’ve been looking for a .223/12gauge version but nobody has them that I’ve been able to find. Good choice.
From what I just looked up it’s hitting about $600. I can’t afford that right now.
Oh yeah, there is a lightweight 357 magnum for $300 or so. I checked some dealers in town.
Here's how mine looks with rail:
Thank you. Got it.
Rossi is owned by Taurus and makes very good guns. I have a Rossi .357 Magnum that I carry often.
No problem! That’s kind of why I posted it. I figured there are other women like me who have trouble with hubby’s guns.
I'm always a little suspicious when one of you southern boys says he's a lousy shot. Kind of like “Well, I've shot billiards before a couple of times.........”
I am also getting that C&R license. I saw a nice collection of Russian rifles for $69 a piece!
