I believe that you have your facts somewhat skewed....Sarah Palin is not 60 years old and she didn’t adopt her children. Try working with the facts....it’s amazing what you will discover!

Why do you say a toothless amendment?

Just look at the results. Has it prevented anything? How many Americans could tell you what the 10th amendment says? The 9th and the 10th are both pretty worthless. The 9th has found some utility, but in a bad way. It was used as part of the "penumbra" in Roe v Wade. The libs use the 9th as part of their phony justification for creating new "rights" out of whole cloth. But the 10th has simply had no effect whatsoever. The Fed Gubmint rolled right over it like Nazi tanks rolling through the Polish cavalry.

The Feds have been battling the states for many many years. Andrew Jackson, for example, asserted federal power against South Carolina during the nullification crisis in 1828 or thereabouts. Then of course there was the War between the States.

By the 20th century, communists had figured out how to use the race issue against us. They used the injustices of Jim Crow as a means to discredit the states, and consolidate power in Washington.

In many ways, the slavery issue has been the curse of our nation. It was the slave states who again and again asserted states rights, but they did so for ignoble purposes. By the 60s, "states rights" was considered to be code for "segregation." The leftists very effectively used that to their advantage.

Memories are short in America, and knowledge of history is poor, so perhaps we'll get a chance to revive the concept of states rights without the racist baggage of the old South.

If you ask me why states don't assert their sovereignty, my answer is political parties. The parties are evil organizations who put their own interests ahead of the interests of the country. The states are run by party agents. They are part of the conspiracy.

I don’t care if she’s 80. The nanny police should not be determining how a woman should raise her children. I expect comments like this from the left but not conservatives.
