I spent my two years in Latin class in HS analyzing girls and sketching hot rods ;-)

That's nothing. 4 years of French., I spent my first 1 1/4 HS years of French learning French.

During the second year a new teacher arrived (1970): The first of the Affirmative Action graduates. She could not spell. (ie Goldilocks and the Three Bares) I pretty much skated through the rest of that year. She was nice, but dumb as a rock.

Years 3 and 4 were 2 more skate years, same teacher for both. She was book smart, knew her French, but no common sense. Another dumb as rock teacher. I went to class maybe 2 days out of 5 and ended up with a B average in the 4th year.

By the time the 4th year ended and I graduated, I learned one thing--I hate French.

I had a buddy that took two years of Spanish in high school, two years in college.

When I asked him how much he had learned, the only thing he could remember was:

“The football is on the table”.
