Kamand, a Persian music group. Each performer was wearing regional dress. L-R: Oud, Tar (relative of later sitar, I believe) and Tombak. I saw Persians (Iranians) in the audience singing along with some of the songs. I don't know Farsi so I just enjoyed the music, but LoM keyed me in to what some of the songs were about. The drum player translated the refrain of one song: "I was not crazy but you made me crazy" -- some things are universal, it seems.
Bhangra & Bollywood Dance. I heard this music often in India and the dance, I believe (rather more choreographed) in films from India (Bollywood), seen on airplanes. On the basis of a very, very small sample, I might like Bollywood's products more than Hollywood's. The youngest sionnsareen had a lot of fun in this workshop.
Swing dance in "The Roadhouse." A favorite of sionnsar's sister, the youngest sionnsareen tried this out too and had to great time.
A view 180 degrees about, showing a very small portion of the festival outside, and bright sun & blue skies.
The first performance in the Japanese Traditions track -- a transverse-blown flute (not the better-known shakahachi, but a quieter, milder flute).
A later performance of Japanese Kabuki (essentially "Dance & Music"). There was a LOT more in this track but I was pushing the camera's abilities and nothing else was IMHO worth presenting.
For various reasons this year we attended only one of the four days of Folklife, but had a lot of fun.
This is a common theme of songs on the Spanish pop station, too.
