Will North Korea be the Iraq of the 2010’s?

Game on. AP reports this morning: NKorea launches rocket, defying world pressure

It looks to me that before the ink is dry in the history books, history is repeating again:

In the 1990’s Saddam Hussein was able to do anything he wanted with impunity while the U.N. twiddled their thumbs with meaningless resolutions. Seventeen U.N. resolutions over 12 years telling Iraq “Don’t you dare … Don’t you dare.” And when George W. Bush finally put our money where our mouths were in 2003, the world community turned its back. And just days ago our traitor of a president stood in France in solidarity with the rest of the world and apologized on behalf of his own country for what his predecessor did.

So, here’s my prediction:

We will squander precious time under a morally confused evil-appeasing Democrat president along with a morally confused evil-appeasing Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.

Over the next few years the U.N. will pass a number of meaningless resolutions which Kim Jong Il will defy.

When (not if!) Obama is dethroned in 2012 by a Republican president, s/he will do what the toothless U.N. and “world community” failed to do: take decisive steps get rid of Kim Jong Il and free North Koreans from what Dennis Prager calls the world’s largest concentration camp.

The “world community” will denounce this Republican president for … (a) war crimes and war-mongering, (b) imperialism, (c) human rights violations against Kim Jong Il and his apparatchik thugs, (d) all of the above

And then, come the next Democrat president, another dictator from another part of the world will repeat the

Surely you jest. The appeasers are in power now. The N. Korean madman will hold the world hostage once he puts a nuclear warhead on the missile. Oh, to be sure, “strong” words will be expressed, but it won’t go beyond that.

And this will only embolden Iran and Syria to pursue their nuclear weapon ambitions while the world harumpfs. Fortunately for us the Israelis will have to take care of that problem or face annilation.

Yep, I really like the way The Messiah is uniting the world. Of course, The Marxist Onada really does not want a united world. For his world to succeed there must be enemies—real or created. The modern left always benefits from the chaos it causes because it is better organized than any other political faction.

It’s been more than 50 years. I won’t be expecting and war with NK. It’s a UN “success”.

Jong is an isolated nut without allies.

Saddam was a dictator carrying the banner of Islam in the center of the Middle East.

There is a big difference.

The North Korean missile is a joke. It’s a liquid fueled contraption that takes a week to fuel. They are closely watched, so if they ever decide to put a warhead on a missile, the ROK or ROJ could blow it up during fueling.

Their original nuke test was a failure. I doubt they have a bomb. The danger is principally to the ROK, because they could try to kamikaze a nuke over the DMZ by plane, truck or boat.

The real tragedy of North Korea is the terrible imprisonment of the population. This is the human tragedy that appeasement has created.
