...Not that I don't miss smoking...
April 1 quit date for me, also in protest of the new taxes.
Almost 20 years ago my brother financed a car with the money he didn't have to spend on cigarettes.
Secondary problem is I won’t be saving money...I’ll just be dumping it into more ammo purchases!
I quit last July cold turkey. No drugs or patches. First two weeks were tough. Had trouble sleeping at night those two weeks but after that it wasn’t too hard to quit.
That’s what I’m looking forward to...
I enjoy my smokes when I’m working around the ranch. Been smoking for fifty years, but I’ll quit as I don’t want to support Zero’s programs he is onerously taxing me and the legal tabacco industry to pay for.
It boils down to herd maintenance, ie; healthcare in the eyes of the Leftists whom are actually intent upon farming us like herd animals. What we eat, our medications, our environment.
Yep, they are farming us to insure they get the most out of each and every one of us.
Moo
That’s great!!
I like your point of view. I also have a ranch (alpacas) and smoking is part of my routine as well. You are right when it comes to the liberal cause, but I think if we can break them just a bit by not letting them use “us” in their plan we will be better off. One day they’ll just be taxing their own. This is really tough - I sometimes feel like I’m giving in to them - but I know I’ll be better off if I stop (I have 2 relatives right now with lung cancer).
We DO want to quit and would REALLY hate for this particualr tax to be used as a RED HERRING.
I'm quite happy I did, though.
That’s how I feel. I’m no rancher, but I grew up able to smoke when at work. I know that many people can’t stand the smoke, but didn’t all the states sue the tobacco cos. and get mega-bucks purportedly support education and other worthwhile causes? Where did those $ go, and why are they still looking to me for more?
Oct. 2009 will be 4 years of non-smoking for me. I had 3 packs of cigarettes left when I decided to quit. I told myself I would quit when I finished these last three packs. I talked myself into believing it was a disgusting habit and started looking at others who smoked and watching them. I found them disgusting and what they were doing disgusting. The hardest part for me was not buying a pack when I got down to the last pack. I always tried to keep a pack or two ahead. Even the lady at the “quickie mart” asked if I wanted my usual pack I got on the way to work and I said no. It was very easy to quit this way and I haven’t looked back.
55+ years smoking unfiltered Camels. Threw them away when I got on the plane for the 14 hour flight to Korea 5yrs ago. Never looked back. You HAVE to WANT to quit ... ~~!
Sorry about venting in the earlier posts. I really do need to quit, but the new taxes still irritate me...particularly because state legislators are co-ordinating.
I’m not ready to quit yet, but I already bought a 7 month supply of tobacco and tubes to get me through until *I* am ready for me to quit.
The Zero administration will not get another dime of my money.
I finally got my wife to quit smoking a year after I did. She used the Chantix to help. Two months later, she had a heart attack and had a stent put in. Strange how that stuff happens.
