Conservatives, Republicans, Libertarians, Blue Dogs and yes, even PUMAs, deserve better than we got tonight.
If the Republicans are going to have a win in 2010 and 2012, we better have people who are better than Jindal's handlers tonight.
That's not pessimism, it's realism.
Holy moly!
You ain’t kidding there, brother.
Back to the drawing board, GOP!!!!
Are you #$%#$#s propping up some other candidate or just dumber than dirt?
I would add that someone needs to teach the GOP about youtube and other networking sites. From what I can tell, there's still no "official" GOP rebuttal video posted.
The first 10 minutes was a disaster. Oh wait, the speech was only 10 mins long? Well, I was hoping he would do well but did not impress.
We need four things four years from now. Personality, Can give a speech, conservative, and can raise $500 million.
I think the only person who can do all four is Palin. I did not connect with Jindal at all tonight and I don’t know if anyone else can raise %500 million.
Must have been McCain’s people!
This is a drive-by comment if I ever saw one. You need to be more specific. His message was that the American people will solve the current economic morass that the Congress has gotten us into and not more government. That is what I heard, and what could possibly be wrong with that message?
“Are you #$%#$#s propping up some other candidate or just dumber than dirt?”
If by candidate you mean someone to pit against 0bama,then, yes, I’m propping up most other potential candidates.
Jindal might govern well in his state but he will NEVER beat 0bama, never in a million years.
I wish message was all that mattered. But, in today's electronic and visual age, it's probably not even in the top five. It's sad, but it's true.
Whomever is the nominee will have to be just as charismatic, dynamic, and eloquent (yes, he's eloquent when delivering prepared texts) as Barry or they don't stand a chance.
I didn’t hear the speech, but I did read a summary and that made valid points.
Jindal’s speech was a stinker. To begin with, I’m sick of hearing republicans going on and on about how the election of 0bama was so so historic. Jindal’s delivery was poor, and his attempts at personalizing stories kind of fell flat. I’ve heard him speak before, he’s a smart guy, but he’s very dull. If he were to get the nomination in 2012 he’d draw McCain size crowds, maybe a bit bigger. Bored, unenthusiastic crowds don’t volunteer, don’t donate, and sometimes don’t even vote. Last I heard he’s only rejected $98 million of the stimulus for Louisiana, which is just over ten percent. Palin has rejected about 50 percent of the $1 billion offered her state. All she’s taking are for construction projects.
There was no problem with the message. Jindal is a true Republican, not a RINO.
The problem was the presentation which looked totally amateur.
Also, Jindal seemed “handled” the same problem that Palin ran into last fall, despite the fact that she’s the most genuine conservative libertarian republican we’ve seen in years.
We need people at the top who are capable of presenting good candidates in a good light.
We have GREAT candidates but they keep being shown in an awful light.
That’s the problem.
Why not blame Jindal?
I have no idea what Jindal was rambling on about.
That was bad.
I didn’t watch it but the GOP needs to quit being so damn apologetic period. They need to learn how to deliver and keep talking points going beyond a news cycle. They need to choose talking points that resonate with the common man. No one believes that we can spend ourselves out of this mess. Keep it simple. The people don’t need to be reminded of how strong they are, they just need to be reminded of how corrupt and worthless our government is. The problem is far too many Republicans have a fondness for Washington which is not by chance one of the only cities not being hit by the current recession.
What has the government done to deserve our trust or our money? They have wasted our money and have betrayed our trust.
You have been sucked into the symbolism over substance hole promulgated by the MSM. Perhaps you think McCain lost because he is 70+ years old. Obama is still promising the children in the fifth grade classroom more and more ice cream with a never ending list of new flavors.
Obama’s performance tonight was another campaign speech. The even had to change the name form The State of the Union to an Address to Congress or some such BS.
Obama never mentioned nuclear, oil or coal in his new energy plan. Without additional supplies of all three our ecomony will be strangled. Jindal mentioned nuclear and oil I know. Not sure about the coal, but we can’t survive without all three. Obama will destroy the fossil fuel industries with his carbon caps. Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virgina are in deep stuff. Also, anyone that obtains electric power from hugh coal burners such as the TVA are in deep stuff.
Did anyone else notice tonight that Jindal referred to Obama in his speech ‘completing a redemptive journey’: with Jindal kegitimizing Obama why does he need the MSM?
In addition it is also a prime example of ‘white guilt’ that the GOP must overcome if they are to win 2010 and 2012.
Jindal would crush him in most other forums. I remember listening to Jindal give a pre-hurricane briefing and instead of saying "please evacuate, and here is my emergency management team," he briefed the whole thing. Quite impressive.
As far as tonight goes, it sounded too much like a speech and not enough like Jindal. Americans shouldn't care where a Republican comes from, they will figure that out on their own. He should have stuck to his main message; believe in the United State, not the United States Government. I have been going nuts waiting for somebody in the GOP to say this for months now. That is the message.
