I think the suckers in PA would be better served by an out of the closet ‘rat than by this turkey.

Specter has been bought and paid for for a long time. His actions and arguments here just punctuate that point.

He does not care what Americans think, he does not care what is best for this Republic.

The people of Pennsylvania simply must wake up and eject this man as their representative. If he thought there was a serious chance of that, he would change his stance. The people of PA must make him feel that way so they he will be forced to act in their best interest...and then at the next election they need to eject him anyway.

Obama and his ilk are enemies to all we hold dear in this republic. They are going about bringing their marxist "fundamental chhange" that they have promised and which so many Americans did not even bother to investigate...but which now they will live with until we can turn it around.

Forward to a beach head in 2010, and victory in 2012. Until then we must fight a strong and committed holding action.

WRITE ALL GOP SENATORS TODAY

IT'S TIME FOR A RETURN TO THE OLD SCHOOL

If the RNC doesn’t come out and support a conservative primary challenger to this liberal old fossil I’ll never donate another cent to the party. I know The RNC doesn’t support primary challengers to sitting GOP Senators but this is an extreme exception. C’mon Chairman Steele, show us what you’re made of!

Along with some nearly incoherent references about MovieTone news reels, he laid out his reasons why the Obama bill must be implemented to save America.

What obviously must happen in these situations is that this is all done by political calculation and backroom deals, and then, maybe as an afterthought, the assclowns come out to “explain” their decision. Something for the punters. So, particularly when the congresscritters get old and brain-addled, their “explanations” have the clarity of Scottish Law. But of course, the “explanation” is only window dressing after the fact, and has nothing really to do with why the decision was taken.

These multi billion dollar quick fixes are nothing but knee jerk reactions to the market. Specter should put on his depends, and go home before his senility ties an anchor around the necks of our children and grandchildren.

There is a huge expanse between no action and the wrong action. What they agreed to do (too quickly in my mind) ... is absolutely the wrong action. Too little time spent considering the waste ... from the gain. Too little time creating effective (laughable when mentioning congress) rules and conditions approved for appropriate spending of the monies given.

Truly a Machiavellian plan.

If, in Sen. Specter’s mind, the ONLY choice is the Porkulus bill or do nothing, he made the wrong choice. And, that choice should haunt him right on into retirement from public service.

He is supporting President Obama's spending bill because the United States cannot afford to sit idly by and do nothing

Leave it to a wretched political whore to not understand the idea that sometimes doing "nothing" (or at least no further harm) is the best medicine.

I think Arlen summed it up pretty well. Congress feels like they need to do something quickly. That's how we end up with so many lousy laws. Every time there's a mass shooting they rush to enact new gun laws without taking the time to realize that the law is going to make the problem worse.

In this case they want to enact "something - Anything" before coming up with a clear understanding of the problem and developing a workable plan that will actually help the economy. Several leading economists have actually said that parts of this bill are not only not going to create jobs, it's going to encourage companies to lay off employees and discourage the unemployed from immediately seeking new jobs.

This plan is going to give a little shot to the economy over the next three years, but is going to remove money from business and consumers for years to come. It will ultimately decrease the money supply and cause interest rates to rise. This will dampen spending and we will be right back where we started, only 1.2 Trillion dollars deeper in dept.
