Participants at a trade conference in Turkey were swapping ideas on how to best exploit trade with the U.S. to bolster their own domestic economies. Why is it wrong for the U.S. to do the same?
At some point we will learn we can’t carry the world, albeit that time may be too late for us.
A “buy American” requirement is bad for America even apart from the likelihood of retaliatory measures from our trading partners.
And then there is the matter of international agreements we are signatories to, e.g., WTO, GATT, NAFTA, etc.
My prediction is for the next four years Obama will “blink” for everyone other than the average American taxpayer, for whom he will behave like Ichi the Killer.
